Update from all the week's running

Summer Solstice
Friday was certainly a scorcher for the summer solstice 10K in Long Bennington. 15 club members braved the sunshine and the heat to run. First club member back was Dale Mordue in a time of 46mins 53 seconds.
A big shoutout to Cath Hare who ran a fantastic time of 1hr 1 second, she was paced around the course by Chris Redhead to achieve a PB – a massive achievement in that heat.
A massive thank you for all the supporters that cam to cheer on fellow club members.

PARKRUN
The following morning saw 14 members of the club at Parkrun, with Newark back on after its week's break - 9 runners ran around the course on it’s 400th event.
First back and achieving a PB at Newark after 3 years of trying was Simon Lock in a time of 20mins 14. I’m sure that sub 20 mins will be yours soon!
Down the A1 husband and wife team Karen and Richard ran at Belton House, Richard coming in at a time of 26mins 28 and Karen 41mins 58.
Even further down the A1 another husband and wife team Robert and Anthea Thornton ran the hilly course at Belvoir Castle both coming in together in a time of 43mins 30.
Travelling further afield was Netty who went to the seaside and ran on the beach at Great Yarmouth – was certainly the right weather for a trip to the beach!

Other events:
On Saturday Steve and Sue Needham travelled to the channel islands to compete in the Island Walk in Jersey. This was a 48.1 mile walk, by the sound of it they experienced all weather that could have been possible including sun, rain, gales, thunder and lightning. This was completed in a great time of 19 hours 37 mins.

Also on Saturday Stuart Ashley and Edward Casebourne completed the Baslow Boot bash. Stuart completed the 27 mile route in 9hrs 42 minutes and Edward completed the 14 mile route in 6hrs 37 mins.

One that was missed on last weeks write up was that Caroline Upton completed the Black Mountain ultra. A 50 mile race including over 11,000 ft of elevation. Caroline was the 2nd Female back and the 1st in the female Vet section in a time of 14hrs 43mins!
