Saturday 2 July - 11am until 12:30 - YMCA track, Newark - no cost

Would you like to try running on track ?
If you are visually impaired the track is probably the safest place to train and race. You can unlock your full potential and run with full confidence knowing there are no trip hazards.

If you are visually impaired and you jog or run, no matter what speed this introduction to the track is for you. Depending on the level of support this could be the first of 3 sessions.

The first session will include Introduction to the track, track etiquette and safety, theory of training, warm up, main session, cool-down and stretching.

If you are a potential guide runner we'd love it if you came along. We can teach you the basics of guide running in the safest possible environment. This will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to guide a VI runner.

If you are a guide runner we could do with you to support the VI runners attending. Should we have more guides than VIs then we can buddy you up with a potential guide to give you both experience of guiding on the track.

The cost is free to VI runners, guides and potential guides.

These taster sessions are brought to you with the support of Tri4Vi, Newark 1/2 marathon, NOTFAST, and the YMCA.

Places are limited for VIs and guides - to secure your place please email: paul.s.davidson@btinternet.com

Notes:
1) some of us will be running at Newark parkrun that morning - you are welcome to join us.
2) The track address is: YMCA Newark and Sherwood Community and Activity Village, Lord Hawke Way, Newark NG24 4FH
3) Hopefully the new YMCA facility will be open for a coffee and chat after the session.
4) If the first session is well supported the second session will see a progression of training quality and quantity. The third session will give you the opportunity to put benchmark times down for various distances under race conditions.
